This is a fast-growing start-up (established in 2021) developing a hotel booking engine and technology platform anabling accommodation providers maximise direct bookings and reduce dependency on OTAs. They build modern, scalable web products used by hotels and property managers globally, with a strong focus on performance, UX, and conversion.
About the Role
As a Senior Full Stack Developer β Tech Lead, youβll work hands-on across the full stack while acting as a technical leader for the team. Youβll be involved in architecture decisions, feature development, and performance optimisation, while mentoring other developers and collaborating closely with product, design, and business stakeholders.
This is a key role with real impact β ideal for someone who enjoys building, improving, and leading, not just coding tickets.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the technical direction and execution of the web platform
Design, build, and maintain scalable full-stack software solutions
Ensure best practice in performance, secure coding, accessibility, and responsive design
Mentor, monitor, and support mid-level developers, setting a high engineering standard
Work closely with product, design, and business teams to deliver well-aligned solutions
Own code quality, reviews, and long-term technical health of the platform
Drive implementation of the product development roadmap
Manage stakeholder expectations on timing and deliverables
Required Skills & Experience
Proven full-stack development experience (frontend + backend integrations)
High-level programming skills transferable to Typescript/JavaScript, SCSS/CSS, React, and SQL
Excellent knowledge of Node and Next.js platforms
Solid understanding of microservice architecture
Experience leading or mentoring developers in a production environment
Understanding of Git source control flows and CI/CD pipelines
Comfortable working remotely with clear communication and an ownership mindset
Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)
Familiarity with AWS services, particularly Lambda, RDS, CloudFront, and S3
Experience using Jira or similar project management tools
Experience with TypeORM or similar ORM libraries
Familiarity with payments and payment gateway integrations
Background in high-traffic or conversion-focused platforms (e.g. e-commerce, booking engines, SaaS)
Awareness of AI/ML trends and technologies, including how AI can enhance platform functionality or user experience

Location: Open to candidates based in Australia or New Zealand
